Ohio State Athletics Good Stuff

Highlights from the past week in Ohio State Athletics

Ohio State Overview: James Clark is coming off his best season with the program, having played in 12 of 13 games in 2015 and earning his first Varsity O letter … he is in his fourth-year with the program and is a junior in eligibility … he has battled through a couple injuries, one that prompted a red-shirt season in 2013, but he enters 2016 having appeared in 18 games for the Buckeyes, which makes him one of the more experienced receivers on the team … a finance major, Clark has earned one Academic All-Big Ten honor and two OSU Scholar-Athlete citations.

2015 Season (Sophomore): Clark played in 12 games for the Buckeyes and earned his first letter … played a season-high 26 plays on offense against Rutgers and also had 18-play games vs. both Virginia Tech and Hawai’i … had a total of 148 offensive and special teams plays for the season.

2014 Season (Freshman): Clark played in three games for the College Football Playoff national champions: Kent State, Illinois and vs. Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game ... he battled through a hamstring issue most of the season as well, which helps explain his action in Games 3, 8 and 13 but no action in between ... the Illinois game represented his first Big Ten action ... he played a persona-best 27 plays vs. Kent State.

2013 Season (Red-shirt): Clark played some as a true freshman, getting into three of the first four games before an ankle injury against Florida A&M and subsequent surgery ended his season and earned him a red-shirt ... he was in for eight total plays in those three games.

More on James: Clark was one of the last in this class to commit and ultimately sign an NLI with Ohio State, doing so on Feb. 6, 2013 (national signing day) … Clark was a first-team Florida 6A all-state pick by The Miami Herald as a senior when he led New Smyrna Beach into the state playoffs … he totaled 87 receptions for 1,954 yards and 29 total touchdowns for his career, playing for coach Lance Jenkins … had 49 receptions for 1,112 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior … had 28 catches for 576 yards as a junior … outstanding as well in track, Clark had a 100-meter dash best of 10.48 … he placed fifth in the 100 and sixth in the 200 at the 2012 Florida outdoor state track championships … the son of Jessie Clark … has an older brother, Jonathan, and an older sister, Camilya.
