No. 2 Ohio State at Indiana

The Buckeyes open up the 2017 campaign in Bloomington with a Big Ten clash with the Hoosiers.

Ohio State Overview: Jamarco Jones graduated with his degree in family resource management in December 2017, and in less than four years. His work in the classroom mirrored his work on the field, where he was a leader along the offensive line and a two-year starter who played in 50 games and started 27 consecutive games at left tackle as a junior and senior. An all-conference honoree twice, Jones helped Ohio State win six championships during his career: a CFP national championship in 2014 when he played in 10 games, a 2014 Sugar Bowl title, a 2015 Fiesta Bowl title, a 2017 Cotton Bowl title and Big Ten Conference championships in 2014 and 2017. His play also helped the Buckeyes rank among the Top 20 rushing teams in the nation four consecutive years, including 11th in 2016 at 245.2 yards per game and 17th in 2017 at 243.2 yards per game. The Buckeyes led the Big Ten in rushing both years. In 2016 the line was one of three units nationally selected as a finalist for the Joe Moore Offensive Line of the Year Award.

Notable: Jones is the next in line at a marquee position for the Buckeyes as the last three fulltime offensive left tackles – Mike Adams, Jack Mewhort and Taylor Decker – were drafted into the NFL and a fourth – Alex Boone – just completed his eighth year in the league. Jones spent two seasons as Decker’s back-up before Decker was taken in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, No. 16 overall, by the Detroit Lions.

Honors & Awards:
2017: First-team All-Big Ten Conference (coaches and media)
2016: Second-team All-Big Ten Conference (coaches and media)

More on Jamarco: Jones was a consensus four-star prospect and a Top 100 player nationally who was rated as high as the 63rd-best player in the nation overall by Scout. He was among the 10 best offensive tackle prospects nationally, with No. 6 rankings by both Scout and ESPN. He missed the first half of his senior season with a shoulder injury, but still earned Illinois Coaches Association first-team Class 6A all-state honors and Champaign News-Gazette all-state accolades. He is the son of Urica Jones.
