Ohio State Overview: Curtis came out of the 2012 spring drills listed as the Buckeyes' starting middle linebacker ... his spring ended short of the spring game because of a pinched nerve, but coaches liked what they saw of Grant before he was sidelined, and that's a good thing: Coach Urban Meyer said at the start of the drills that Grant "has to be a player for us. If he's not, we've got problems." ... Curtis was considered the top-rated prospect in the Ohio State Class of 2011 recruits, but he wasn't able to turn that lofty ranking into significant playing time as a freshman, and as a result managed mostly special teams action in 10 games ... he recorded two tackles ... he came back this spring with a new mindset and a new determination, though, and he is motivated to "keep progressing to get to the next level" in his development this fall.

More on Curtis: Curtis is exploring majors ... he was a three-year all-Richmond metro defender while playing for coach Patrick Kane at Hermitage H.S. ... he totalled 134 tackles, 15 TFL and six sacks as a senior and was named the prestigious Parade All-America and USA Today all-USA teams ... he was the leading tackler for the East in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl ... Curits is the son of Gloria Grant and Curtis Raynard Grant.
