Ohio State Overview: Reid Fragel played in all 39 games between 2009-11 as a tight end, starting in nine of them wearing jersey No. 88 ... prior to his senior spring drills of 2012, he consulted with coaches and made the move to tackle and jersey No. 77 ... he went from 280 pounds to 298 and played his senior season just over 300 pounds ... he was outstanding at right tackle, starting all 12 games for the undefeated Buckeyes and earning honorable mention all-Big Ten honors ... he was invited to both the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine after the season ... he was such a pleasant surprise that coach Urban Meyer has decided from now on that any player who comes out of nowhere to shine will earn the "Reid Fragel Award" ... Reid was a fine tight end - he caught 14 passes for 185 yards and one touchdown in his career - but he was always more comfortable blocking than running routes and at 6-7, he has the length, leverage and athleticism to develop into a fine blocker, which he did ... Fragel was the only senior offensive lineman on the two-deep chart ... he played on special teams during the Buckeyes' 2009 Big Ten and Rose Bowl championship teams ... in 2010 and 2011 he saw tight end duty in every game ... he caught a five-yard touchdown pass in the 20-17 win at Iowa in 2010, and he had a 42-yard reception in the 2011 Sugar Bowl vs. Arkansas ... for his career, Fragel played in 51 games, started 21 times and was a four-year letterman ... he did not red-shirt.

More on Reid: Reid is majoring in communication ... he was Grosse Pointe South's team MVP as a senior for coach Tim Brandon, earning all-state and O-D Bowl All-America status, and being named to the Detroit Free Press "dream team" ... also played basketball and competed in track and field ... comes from a family of athletes; a sister rows collegiately for Miami (Fla.) and grandfather, Joe Stalma, won 288 high school basketball games in a legendary coaching career at Rossford (Ohio) High School ... Reid is the son of Deborah and Mark Fragel.
