Career Overview: Chris Fields spent five years with the Ohio State football program and lettered four times while playing in 41 games with 11 starting assignments at receiver ... scored eight touchdowns - seven receiving and one off a punt return - and had 31 career receptions for 384 yards (12.4 per catch average) ... graduated in May 2014 with his degree in sociology.
Senior Season: Chris capped his Ohio State career with a fine 2013 campaign, working for personal bests in receptions (16), receiving yards (193) and with six touchdowns scored... he played in 12 games and started three times ... he averaged a touchdown for every 2.6 receptions ... caught a personal-best two touchdown passes in the season opener vs. Buffalo and later added touchdown scores vs. California, Florida A&M, Penn State and Purdue ... set personal bests with four catches vs. Penn State, most receiving yards vs. Illinois (58) and longest reception (47) vs. Illinois ... four of Fields' touchdown receptions were thrown by Kenny Guiton.
Junior Season: Chris made a couple of the biggest plays of the season against Purdue to save the Buckeyes' undefeated season from an upset loss ... with less than a minute to go and Ohio State trailing by eight, he made a smart play on a punt return, picking up the loose ball and returning it eight yards to the Ohio State 39 to kick start a game-winning drive ... then with two seconds left to play, he got low and using his baseball-player instincts, scooped and cradled a touchdown pass from Guiton that, with the ensuing two-point conversion, forced overtime in a game the Buckeyes would win, 29-22 ... his big day vs. the Boilermakers (three catches for 44 yards) also included a 35-yard reception from Braxton Miller that set up another Ohio State score.
Sophomore Season: Chris was a starter at one of the wide receiver positions in 2011, playing in all 13 games and making eight starts ... he caught eight passes for 114 yards and a 14.2 yards per catch average ... had two catches vs. Akron and two for 45 yards vs. Michigan ... his talents as a punt returner were displayed as he returned five punts for 88 yards and a 17.6 per return average ... included was a huge touchdown return in the tense game against Toledo (a six-point Ohio State win), scoring from 69 yards out just before halftime to give Ohio State a 21-15 lead. Freshman Season: Chris played in eight games in 2010 after taking a red-shirt season in 2009 when Ohio State was Big Ten and Rose Bowl champion.
