Ohio State Overview: Bryce Haynes is a fifth-year senior who has not only lettered three times as a long snapper, but he has become a community service hero since arriving with three mission trips to help those in need: to Enchi, Ghana (2014), Lima Peru (2013) and to Bibiana, Ghana (2012) ... he enters the 2015 season having snapped 259 times on special teams and in 38 games ... he handled all snaps last year after sharing responsibilities in 2012 and 2013 with the now-graduated George Makridis ... Haynes is a three-time academic All-Big Ten honoree and a four-time OSU Scholar-Athlete who has graduated with his degree in biology and will take the MCATS the summer of 2015 with attending medical school next on his list of mountains to climb ... spent three weeks in May 2015 conducting DNA research related to prostate cancer at Emory University in Atlanta ... named a Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholar for the 2012-13 academic year for maintaining a grade point average above 3.70 for the year.
2014 Season (Junior): Haynes played in all 15 games and handled all the long-snapping for the 2014 College Football Playoff national champion Buckeyes ... was accurate on 157 snaps ... is an athlete, and uses his speed to get downfield to cover punts and record tackles ... recorded one tackle to give him four on his career ...
2013 & 2012 Seasons: In 2013 as a sophomore, Haynes played in 13 games and made 55 snaps ... he played in 10 games and totaled 47 snaps during his freshman campaign of 2012 ... he also recorded three tackles on punts, including two solo stops ... Haynes red-shirted the 2011 season as a true freshman.
More on Bryce: Haynes signed a national letter of intent with Ohio State in February 2011 after he took top honors in long snapping at a number of national camps following his senior season and was rated as the nation's top prep prospect at that position ... first team GISA all-region playing defensive end for Coach Charles Wiggins ... also a basketball and track letterman ...
