Jim Borchers

Former Ohio State football player Jim Borchers is in his third season as a team physician for the Buckeyes. In addition to working with the football team, Dr. Borchers also provides medical treatment for student-athletes from men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, field hockey and softball.

A native of Bellbrook, Ohio, Borchers walked-on with the Buckeyes and went on to earn four varsity awards as the regular long snapper between 1990 and 1993. He received the Ike Kelley Special Teams Player of the Year Award in 1992. A four-year Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a four-year OSU Scholar-Athlete, he graduated from Ohio State in 1993 with a degree in chemistry. He earned his M.D. from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in 2000.

Borchers completed his residency in family medicine from Toledo Hospital in 2003 and his sports medicine fellowship from the Northwest Ohio Sports Medicine Institue in 2004.

Jim and his wife, Mary, have two children: Emily (6) and William (3).
