Ohio State's 2015 seniors on the cusp of 50 victories
The scholars were all part of Ohio State's unbeaten, 12-0 2012 season
Outstanding student-athletes will be honored at 46th annual Scholar-Athlete Dinner
The team held its third of 15 practices this spring in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center
Earliest start, perhaps, in school history comes after a 103-day break in practices
Ohio State Overview: Warren Ball is a two-time Varsity O letterwinner who is in his fourth year with the team ... he is a junior in eligibility with a red-shirt season in 2012 when he missed the entire year with a foot injury ... he has come back to see action in 19 games the past two seasons ... he owns a career rushing average of 5.2 yards per carry with 31 carries for 161 yards ... he is a scholar-athlete who is majoring in sport industry.
2014 Season (Sophomore): Ball played in 10 games for the College Football Playoff national champions, including seeing running back and special teams action in eight of the last nine games of the season ... was in on 17 plays from scrimmage vs. Kent and 15 vs. Illinois ... had 18 carries for 85 yards, including 41 yards rushing vs. Kent and 37 vs. Illinois ... earned his second Varsity O letter.
2013 Season (Freshman): Ball played in nine games as a reserve running back and on special teams ... he rushed the football 13 times for 76 yards and a 5.8 yards per carry average ... he had a long rush of 12 years vs. Florida A&M, a game in which he gained 49 yards off seven carries ... he earned Academic All-Big Ten Conference and OSU Scholar-Athlete accolades.
More on Warren: Ball grew up approximately 15 minutes from the Ohio State campus and was the second commitment to his 2012 class (summer 2010) ... he was a four-star prospect who was ranked as the No. 13 running back by Scout.com, No. 16 by Rivals.com and No. 26 by ESPNU ... he was also on the Rivals 250 list ... rushed for 1,232 yards and 29 touchdowns as a DeSales senior and was named first-team Division III all-state by the Associated Press ... scored six touchdowns Sept. 2 vs. Brookhaven ... led the Stallions to a 2011 Central Catholic League championship, the second round of the state playoffs and was named all-conference ... also named to the Columbus Dispatch 2011 all-metro team ... helped DeSales reach the Division III state championship game as a sophomore in 2009 ... gained 700 yards and scored eight touchdowns as a sophomore despite missing part of year with an injury ... missed six games with a high ankle sprain as a junior ... played in the OHSFCA North-South Classic football game at Ohio Stadium ... is the son of Warren Sr. and Danielle Ball.
