Craft Among Cousy Candidates
Aaron Craft, a junior guard for the Buckeyes, is among the candidates for the Bob Cousy Award, presented annually to the top point guard in the country. The list of more than 80 nominations will be cut to 20 around Jan. 1, 2013. Ten finalists will be announced near Feb. 1 and a final five March 1. The winner will be announced at the 2013 Final Four weekend.
Ohio State In the Big Ten
The Buckeyes are No. 3 in scoring offense among Big Ten teams (78.6 ppg.), scoring defense (57.2 ppg.) and scoring margin (+21.4). The Buckeyes are in the No. 1 spot in both turnover margin (+4.8) and No. 2 in assist-to-turnover ratio (+1.5). Individually, Deshaun Thomas leads the conference in scoring with 20.4 points per game. Aaron Craft (4.8) and Shannon Scott (4.7) rate No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, in assists per game. Scott also is No. 2 in steals per game (2.5) and No. 1 in assist to turnover ratio (+5.2). Craft is No. 3 in the league (+3.7).
Aaron Craft: Needs eight points to reach 700 for his career...reached 400 career assists with eight vs. UNC Asheville ... his 406 career total rates No. 8 all-time ... Evan Turner is No. 7 with 414. Evan Ravenel: Has 199 points as a Buckeye in two seasons. Shannon Scott: Scored seven points vs. UNC Asheville to top the century mark in career scoring (107) ... his two assists vs. Winthrop gives him 107 for his career. Lenzelle Smith Jr.: Scored 14 points vs. Winthrop to reach 400 (403) for his career. Deshaun Thomas: Reached 400 career rebounds with 10 vs. UNC Asheville, added nine boards vs. Winthrop (409) ... needs two made 3-pointers for 100 made in his career ... seven points shy of No. 40 Ron Sepic (1,107) on the career scoring list. Amir Williams: Eight points shy of 100 career points and five rebounds short of 100.
The Kansas Series
The game vs. the Jayhawks Saturday will be the 10th meeting in the all-time series. Kansas is 6-3 overall. KU has won the last four games in the series, including two games last season. In the first game of the home and home series in Lawrence, Kansas prevailed 78-67 last December. Ohio State was without two-time All-American Jared Sullinger in that game (injury). Both the Buckeyes and Jayhawks advanced to the 2012 Final Four in New Orleans. Kansas won that meeting in a come-from-behind effort to advance to the national title game with a 64-62 victory. Ohio State's three wins in the series took place from 1983-96. The Buckeyes won in Lawrence, at St. John Arena in Columbus and in overtime in a neutral site game at the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. Against the current alignment of Big 12 teams, Ohio State is 25-23 overall. Thad Matta is 5-6 during his career vs. Big 12 teams.
A Look at the Jayhawks
Kansas enters the game vs. the Buckeyes with an overall record of 9-1 and an Associated Press ranking of No. 9. Michigan State handed the Jayhawks their only loss to date with a 67-64 victory in Atlanta Nov. 13. Kansas has since won eight in a row. Freshman guard Ben McLemore leads the team with 15.9 points a game. Senior center Jeff Withey averages 14.1 points and 8.1 rebounds while senior guard Travis Releford contributes 13 points a game. Withey leads the nation with 54 blocked shots (5.4 a game).
OHIO STATE VS. THE RANKED
The Buckeyes have an all-time record of 147-232 (0-1 in 2012-13) vs. ranked opponents in the Associated Press Top 25. That includes a mark of 62-115 vs. Top 10 foes. As a ranked team, Ohio State is 435-117 all-time. In games when both teams enter with a Top 25 ranking, Ohio State is 67-58. When ranked among the Top 10 nationally, Ohio State is 314-68. The Buckeyes are 7-3 vs. No. 9 ranked teams all-time. The game vs. the Jayhawks is the first battle of Top 10 teams in Columbus since No. 5 Ohio State defeated No. 7 Indiana 80-63 Jan. 15, 2012. The last non-conference Top 10 game in Columbus was No. 2 Ohio State's 85-63 win over No. 3 Duke last year in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge Nov. 29, 2011. The last seven ranked opponents, including the game vs. Kansas Saturday, have been against Associated Press Top 10 teams. Ohio State is 3-3 entering Saturday in those games.

Seven Foes among Top 20
In the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, seven Ohio State opponents are among the Top 20 and five opponents are ranked in the Top 10. The Buckeyes are scheduled to play 11 games against teams currently ranked. No. 9 Kansas is up next Saturday in Columbus. The Buckeyes will face No. 6 Indiana, No. 2 Michigan, No. 10 Illinois, and No. 20 Michigan State twice each during the 2013 Big Ten season. No. 13 Minnesota plays at Ohio State in the lone meeting against the Gophers.
