Craft, Thomas Named to Wooden List
The preseason Top 50 watch list for the 2013 Wooden Award includes Deshaun Thomas and Aaron Craft, both juniors on the Ohio State men's basketball team. The 36th annual Wooden Award ceremony will take place April 12-13 in Los Angeles. Ohio State has been well represented among finalists for the award over the last several years. Carrier Classic Cancelled
When Ohio State and Marquette took the court for the opening tip-off of the 2012 Carrier Classic on the USS Yorktown in Mount Pleasant, S.C., Friday, game officials noticed condensation on court. After many attempts to prepare the playing surface for safe competition, it was determined the court was unsafe. The game was cancelled. There are no plans to reschedule the game or replace it on the 2012 Ohio State schedule.
Craft Family Represented Last Weekend
The Craft Family has an appreciation for the U.S. Military above and beyond most of those scheduled to participate in the 2012 Carrier Classic last weekend. As Ohio State junior Aaron Craft, a member of the men's basketball team, and his sister Cait Craft, a senior in high school, were finishing up their respective basketball seasons last March 24, their older brother Brandon was being deployed to Afghanistan as a U.S. Army Infantryman. Brandon began his mission at almost the same time the Buckeyes tipped off in the 2012 East Regional Final vs. Syracuse in Boston. Cait later signed up to play for the Ohio State women's team and both she and Aaron experienced the 2012 Carrier Classic together. The women's basketball team fell to Notre Dame (57-51) in the women's game while the men's team against Marquette was cancelled because of unplayable court conditions (condensation).
