COLUMBUS, Ohio - Greg Oden, who helped Ohio State to a school record 35 wins and an appearance in the 2007 NCAA Championship game, was one of eight players added to the USA Basketball Senior National Team roster Wednesday.

Oden led the Buckeyes in scoring (15.7 ppg.), rebounding (9.6 rpg.), field goals made (189), field goal percentage (189-307/.616), foul shots attempted (196), offensive rebounds (113), defensive rebounds (306), total rebounds (306), blocks (105) and points scored (501).

After missing the first seven games of the season recovering from a right wrist injury, Oden started 31 of 32 games setting numerous Ohio State records along the way. He added several awards to his collection, including Associated Press First Team All-America honors.

Oden will be one of two Buckeyes on the national team roster when camp opens July 20 in Las Vegas. Michael Redd, a former NBA All-Star, one of the leading scorers in the National Basketball Association in 2006-07 and a native of Columbus, also will vie for a spot on the squad.

Redd was an All-Big Ten guard as a junior in 2000 for the Buckeyes. He, like Oden, was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year (1998). In 96 career games, Redd scored 1,879 career points, fifth on the all-time scoring list. He led Ohio State in scoring each season before leaving for the professional ranks. He led the Big Ten in scoring as a freshman with an average of 21.9 ppg. (658 total pts.) in 1997-98.

Thad Matta, Ohio State head coach, said Ohio State will be represented well.

"We are thrilled that Michael and Greg have been chosen by USA Basketball as members of the Senior National Team," Matta said. "Not only are they both terrific basketball players, but they are great people with impeccable character. I am confident they will represent the Ohio State community and our country in a first class manner."

The national team is coached by Duke's Mike Krzyzewski. Jim Boeheim of Syracuse, Mike D'Antoni of the Phoenix Suns and Nate McMillan of the Portland Trail Blazers will assist. Portland won the NBA lottery Tuesday for the right to pick No. 1 in the 2007 NBA Draft June 28. Oden is one of the leading candidates for that No. 1 pick.
