P.J. Hill transferred to Ohio State in 2007 after spending a season at Midland College in Midland, Texas, playing for Grant McCasland. Hill was a member of the 2007 NJCAA National Championship team and contributed a tournament personal-best 10 points and 5 rebounds in the opening contest vs. Aiken Technical College. In the quarterfinal game vs. Seminole State College, Hill helped guard SSC's Robert Jarvis (an Oral Roberts signee) and limited him to 10 points after Jarvis recorded 34 points in the first-round game.

From 2003-04, Hill was a point guard for the South (Minneapolis) High School varsity team before transferring to North High School for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. A three-time all-conference and all-city recipient, Hill also was recognized as an all-state honoree. A four-year varsity starter and three-time captain at South and North high schools, Hill helped North High win back-to-back Twin City and Minneapolis Conference championships.

Averaging 18 points, 7 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game, Hill was recognized as a McDonald's All-America nominee as a senior. Hill also was a three-time letterwinner in track and earned all-conference in soccer. He is the son of Paul and Monique Hill. His hobbies include reading about space. He would like to become the spokesperson for NASA.
