COLUMBUS, Ohio - Gray no-hit Scarlet behind a strong pitching performance from Brad Goldberg and a huge day from Mike Carroll and ran away with a 13-0 series-ending victory in game 4 of the Scarlet & Gray World Series Saturday afternoon at Bill Davis Stadium.
After each starter faced the minimum through the first two innings, Gray plated four runs in the third, using a pair of errors and singles by Kirby Pellant, Mike Carroll and Brad Hallberg. The home team then blew the game wide open with six more in the fourth, using two more Scarlet errors, a pair of walks, a hit batter and a pair of two run singles by Carroll and Patrick Porter.
Up 10-0 in the fifth with Goldberg cruising, Carroll continued his hot hitting with a three-run blast to right to plate Pellant and Tim Wetzel and make it 13-0 Gray and cap the scoring.
Carroll finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and six RBI in the win. Goldberg struck out four in his five innings of work to pick up the win.
