COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Game 5 of the 2012 Scarlet and Gray World Series has been cancelled and will not be made up. Scarlet took the first three contests in Columbus before Gray won Saturday in Chillicothe.

Scarlet was led offensively in the four games by freshman Jacob Brobst, who finished 6-for-14 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored while the team posted a 1.00 earned-run average in 27.0 innings.

Mike Carroll led Gray, going 3-for-8 in the series, while the Gray pitching staff tallied a 2.36 ERA in the four contests.

The Buckeyes open the 2013 campaign against Mercer Feb. 15 in Sarasota, Fla.
