COLUMBUS, Ohio – With collegiate summer league seasons winding down, multiple Buckeyes are putting together solid campaigns in wood bat leagues across the country. Ronnie Dawson, Trace Dempsey and Travis Lakins, members of the Chillicothe Paints, were named Prospect League all-stars while Troy Montgomery and Pat Porter were all-stars in the Northwoods League.
Some Ohio State summer league highlights:
Ronnie Dawson (Chillicothe Paints) – Dawson is hitting .288 with nine doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 39 RBI and 38 runs scored in 50 games. His 10 home runs are the most in the league while his 39 RBI are good for second.
Trace Dempsey (Chillicothe Paints) – Dempsey has posted a 1-0 record with nine saves and a 0.88 ERA in 20.1 innings pitched. The right-hander has struck out 33 and allowed just 10 hits.
Travis Lakins (Chillicothe Paints) – Lakins went 4-0 with a 2.00 ERA in 27.0 innings pitched over four starts. He allowed 15 hits while striking out 26 and allowing just one walk while also tossing a perfect game, striking out 14 in a 3-0 win over West Virginia June 20.
Troy Montgomery (Kalamazoo Growlers) – Montgomery hit .357 with seven doubles, four triples, three home runs, 37 runs scored, 26 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 47 games for Kalamazoo.
Craig Nennig (Alexandria Blue Anchors) – Nennig is batting .274 with 13 doubles, a triple, two home runs, 28 runs scored and 18 RBI in 47 contests.
Pat Porter (Kenosha Kingfish) – Porter is hitting .335 with 15 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs, 56 RBI and 48 runs scored in 55 games. The outfielder is leading the Northwoods League in RBI.
Joe Stoll (Lorain County) – Stoll is 1-2 with a 2.42 ERA 26.0 innings pitched over 17 appearances. He has fanned 24 while allowing 19 hits.
