COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ronnie Dawson and Tanner Tully, members of the Ohio State baseball team, have been named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-Americans, Collegiate Baseball newspaper announced Wednesday. The two become the 15th and 16th Freshman All-Americans in Ohio State history and the first since Josh Dezse in 2011.

Dawson paced the Buckeyes with a .337 batting average, the fifth-best mark in the Big Ten, to go along with 10 doubles, a triple, four home runs, 28 runs scored and 25 RBI. The Grove City, Ohio, native also stole 10 bases and walked 16 times in 53 starts. Dawson garnered second team All-Big Ten honors and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team in May.

After starting the season in the bullpen, Tully took over a starting role just before Big Ten play, making 11 starts in 16 appearances. The Elkhart, Ind., native ranked fifth in the Big Ten with a 2.22 ERA and eighth with 93.1 innings pitched. Tully, who tossed at least 7.0 innings in nine of his last 10 starts, went 6-3 and struck out 53 while allowing just seven walks. The left-hander ranks second nationally with 0.68 walks per nine innings and eighth with a 7.57-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Last month, Tully was named Ohio State’s 11th Big Ten Freshman of the Year in addition to second team All-Big Ten and All-Freshman team laurels.
