COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ryan Riga, a junior left-hander on the Ohio State baseball team, has been named Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. The award, shared with Minnesota’s Neal Kunik, is the third Pitcher of the Week honor for Riga after earning the award Feb. 18 and March 10.
Riga, picking up the fifth Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor for a Buckeye this season, pitched 7.2 shutout innings, allowing three hits while striking out nine in a 2-0 win at Purdue Saturday. The Fairfield, Ohio, native is 4-1 with a 3.02 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 53.2 innings pitched over eight starts this year.
The Buckeyes travel to Louisville for a 6 p.m. game Wednesday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
