COLUMBUS, Ohio – Brian King, a senior on the Ohio State baseball team, has been named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. The award is the first for King and the seventh Big Ten weekly award for a Buckeye this season.
King tossed 7.0 shutout frames, allowing three hits while striking out three in the Buckeyes' 7-4 win over Nebraska in the rubber game Sunday. The senior has allowed just one earned run over 14.0 innings pitched over his last two starts.
The Buckeyes host Akron at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday before hitting the road to face Cincinnati at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday.
