COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nick Sergakis and Greg Greve, members have the Ohio State baseball team, have earned Big Ten weekly honors, the conference office announced Monday. Sergakis was named Big Ten Player of the Week whil’e Greve earned Co-Pitcher of the Week honors.
Sergakis batted .500 (11-for-22) with two doubles, a triple, a home run, seven runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases as the Buckeyes went 3-2 last week, including a series win over Penn State. The shortstop becomes the Buckeyes’ first Big Ten Player of the Week this season.
Greve tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing four hits and a pair of walks while striking out three in the Buckeyes’ 7-0 win over the Nittany Lions Saturday afternoon. Greve has tossed 15.0 scoreless innings, allowing nine hits while striking out five over his last two starts and needed just 86 pitches, 57 strikes, to complete the shutout. The Pitcher of the Week honor is the third for a Buckeye this season.
Ohio State travels to Morgantown for a game against West Virginia at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday.
