COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jacob Bosiokovic, a third baseman/outfielder on the Ohio State baseball team, has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. The award is the first for Bosiokovic and the fifth Big Ten weekly award for a Buckeye this season.
The Delaware, Ohio, native went 6-for-11 with three home runs, nine RBI and three runs scored as the Buckeyes went 2-1 over the weekend at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Bosiokovic hit two home runs, including the first of his career, and drove in six to pace the Buckeyes offensively in an 11-0 win over Harvard Friday before hitting a go-ahead three-run home run in the eighth inning of the Buckeyes’ 5-3 win over Ball State Saturday. The multi-home run game was the first for a Buckeye since Josh Dezse hit three in a game at Georgia Tech Feb. 24 of last season.
Ohio State takes on Coastal Carolina at 4 p.m. Monday at TicketReturn.com Field.
