COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner was listed again as the Top 2018 Big Ten Prospect by a national baseball media website, this time by D1Baseball.com. Feltner, from Hudson, Ohio, also was named the preseason top Big Ten prospect by Perfect Game and the third ranked prospect by Baseball America.
The 6-4, 195-pound right-hander has collected 118 strikeouts in 131.1 innings pitched in two seasons with the Buckeyes. He was named the 2017 Cape League Relief Pitcher of the Year and a CCBL All-Star. Feltner did not allow an earned run in 14 games with 16 strikeouts on the mound last summer. He was named the top prospect out of the Big Ten on D1Baseball’s Top 100 2018 prospect list last month (No. 71).
Sophomore outfielder Dominic Canzone was listed as the No. 6 overall Big Ten prospect in the 2019 draft class, while sophomore Conner Pohl was ranked No. 25. Freshman catcher Dillon Dingler was listed at No. 6 on the Big Ten impact freshmen list.
DBaseball said on the 2018 Buckeyes “Now everybody is back in the lineup aside from OF Tre’ Gantt and SS Jalen Washington, so this is a more experienced group that is hungry for redemption. OSU’s best player and top returning hitter is OF Dominic Canzone (.343/.390/.458), a left-handed hitter with emerging power. The Buckeyes expect big things from him and fellow sophomore Conner Pohl (.325/.386/.450), after both of them put on between 12 and 20 pounds in the offseason and have started to drive the ball with more authority.”
