Buckeyes improve to 25-13, 9-6 in Big Ten play

2012 (Junior): Co-captain started all 60 games at second base, finishing with a .236 batting average, 10 doubles, two home runs, 46 runs scored and 31 RBI ... finished 10th in the Big Ten in runs scored and fifth with 36 walks ... tallied 13 multi-hit games and five games with multiple RBI ... 6-for-17 with four runs scored, three RBI and three doubles at the Snowbird Classic (3/2-4) ... went 8-for-19 with two doubles, a home run, nine RBI and five runs scored at the Chanticleer Classic (3/9-11) ... 3-for-10 with a double, five walks and three runs scored against Austin Peay (3/16-18) ... 4-for-12 with two runs scored and two stolen bases against Purdue (3/23-25).
2011 (Sophomore): Started 52 games at second base, finishing second on the team with a .323 batting average, a .400 on-base percentage, 65 hits and 37 runs scored ... tallied 10 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 35 RBI ... stole five bases in seven attempts ... third on the team with 17 multi-hit games and nine multiple RBI games ... batted .348 with two outs and tied for team lead with 14 two-out RBI ... career-high 14-game hitting streak (2/19-3/24) ... 7-for-15 with three doubles, a home run, six runs scored and three RBI in series vs. Western Michigan (2/25-27) ... 9-for-14 with two doubles and four runs scored in three games in Winter Haven, Fla. (3/11-13) ... 3-for-5 with a career-best five RBI at Cal State Bakersfield (3/26) ... 7-for-13 with three runs scored and two RBI in Northwestern series (4/1-3) ... 5-for-14 with three RBI and three runs scored in series vs. Michigan State (4/15-17) ... 5-for-10 with two doubles and five runs scored in Michigan series (4/29-30) ... 4-for-11 with three runs scored in series at Minnesota (5/19-21).
2010 (Freshman): Ryan did see some action as a freshman, and so the Buckeyes won't have a totally raw player to start the season at second ... he played in 26 games and made nine starts (four starts at second and five as the designated hitter) ... experience also includes 10 Big Ten games and five Big Ten starts ... Ryan hit .267 for the season (12 of 45) with 10 runs scored, one double and four RBI ... also drew six walks ... singled, scored a run and drove in two in his first collegiate game, vs. Florida A&M ... followed that with first multi-hit game of career in Game 2, vs. Richmond, with a double, run scored and RBI ... also had a pair of singles vs. Bucknell and two runs scored vs. Northwestern ... after the season played for the Stark Co. Terriers of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League.
2009 (Redshirt): Redshirted as a true freshman playing in an infield that returned all four starters.
Olentangy Liberty H.S.: The No. 38 rated senior baseball player in Ohio by The Buckeye Scout ... four year varsity infielder and three year varsity football quarterback... first team all District in 2007 and two-time All-Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) Buckeye Division in both football and baseball ... in three years recorded 83 hits, 56 runs and 48 RBI and hit .375 ... missed all of senior season due to Tommy John surgery ... an all-state quarterback.
Personal: Ryan is the son of Greg and Sue Cypret ... father was an All-American shortstop at Missouri who then played six years in the Houston Astros' organization ... father then was an assistant coach for 23 seasons at Ohio State under Bob Todd ... sister, Carolyn, is an Ohio State graduate.
