Kirby Pellant joins the Buckeye coaching staff as a student assistant coach. Pellant is finishing his degree after retiring from pro baseball earlier this season.
A 26th-round selection of the Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim in 2013,Pellant was a first team All-Big Ten selection as a senior after hitting .301 with five doubles, three triples, two home runs, 20 runs scored and 15 RBI. He hit .286 with 11 doubles, seven triples, two home runs, 52 runs scored and 40 RBI in his two seasons in Columbus after transferring from Chandler-Gilbert CC. Pellant ended his career tied for ninth on the Ohio State career list with 43 stolen bases.
