The Ohio State University Cheerleaders are an integral part of the Department of Athletics, the University, and the central Ohio community. The cheerleaders pride themselves in their goals to promote spirit and support for Ohio State, and to encourage positive crowd participation at Ohio State events. Additionally, the cheerleaders are involved with many activities on campus, including Welcome Week, Homecoming, pep rallies, The Ohio State University Alumni Association, and many more. In the central Ohio community, the cheerleaders are active in charity and school events. The cheerleaders are known to be excellent ambassadors for the University and the Department of Athletics. The cheerleaders have competed in the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) National Collegiate Cheerleading Competition for 17 of the past 20 years, winning in 1981, 1983, 1993, placing second in 2001 and most recently placing fifth in 2010.

"Brutus Buckeye," The Ohio State University's Official Mascot, is also part of the Cheerleading Program, and was first introduced in October 1965. Brutus is a fan favorite, posing for hundreds of pictures and signing hundreds of autographs. Brutus most recently won the call in vote for capital one. Look for him in 2010 and be sure to support Brutus in the national vote.

Ohio Stadium, built in 1922 and on the National Register of Historic Places and where Ohio State Football games are played, is regularly sold out (with a capacity of over 101,000 people.) The Jerome Schottenstein Center's Value City Arena, which opened in 1998, is the venue for the Men's and Women's Basketball and Men's Ice Hockey programs. Lynn W. St. John Arena, known simply as St. John Arena, completed in November 1956, and with a capacity of 13,200, is the venue for the Men's and Women's Volleyball teams.

The Ohio State University Cheerleaders have "the best seats in the house," cheering for the best teams, working with the "Best Damn Band In the Land", and are surrounded by "The Best Fans in the Land!"
