Spirit Squad Appearance General Guidelines

The Ohio State Spirit Squad makes more than 500 appearances each year, ranging from OSU football games to Alumni receptions. Young and old alike have enjoyed the fun and spirit of the Buckeye Spirit Squads' appearances. If you want to add some Buckeye spirit to your next event, don't forget to invite members of the OSU Spirit Squad.   1. Please complete and submit the Spirit Squad Appearance Request Form a minimum of three (3) weeks prior to your event.
  2. Any request received less than three (3) weeks prior to your event will not be granted. Request received more than 3 months prior to event date will not be scheduled and will need to be re-submitted.
  3. Due to the time restraints and availability, not all requests can be fulfilled. You will be notified approximately 2-4 weeks prior to your event if your request has been approved or cannot be accommodated.
  4. If being requested, events during home games must be on main campus. Events during away games must be more than 2 hours prior to game start, to be requested.
  5. Please see attached information regarding appearance fee structures. All payments must be received IN FULL a minimum of 1 week prior to all appearances. Appearances are NOT considered confirmed until the payment is received in our office.
  6. Appearance fees support the Spirit Program and are consistent with our peer institutions in the Big Ten Conference.
  7. For internal payments please select athletics as vendor when paying for event.
  8. Personal and corporate checks will be accepted. Checks should be made payable to:

  9. There is no refund for cancellations with less than 48 hours notice.
  10. Brutus appearances must have a private changing room/area away from guests and a place where he can store his belongings.
  11. Brutus will arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time in order to get changed into costume.
  12. Please note that outdoor events may require that Brutus take a 10 minute break every 30 minutes.
  13. Team members will be prepared based upon the details that are provided at the bottom of the Spirit Squad Appearance Request Form. Please be very clear about your expectations of the team's role at your event.
  14. If alcohol is being served while our team is at your event, team members must be stationed away from the area where it is being served. Also, please note that if guests become rowdy or inappropriate, these students are instructed to leave immediately and no refund will be provided. This includes tailgate and game-day appearances.
  15. To avoid conflict with existing University contracts and commitments, Party shall take all necessary steps to ensure that neither the Spirit Program/Brutus nor the University appear to directly support, endorse, or sponsor the Party or any of its direct sponsors, nor any advertising adjacent to the Party, in any medium, without first obtaining the prior written consent of University's Office of Trademark & Licensing Services. Similarly, the Spirit Program/Brutus shall not permit the Party's sponsors to suggest, in any medium, direct support or sponsorship by University of the Party or sponsors and/or sponsor's products and/or services without first obtaining the prior written consent of University's Office of Trademark & Licensing Services.
  16. You can expect 2-6 cheerleaders or dance team members at events requesting either of these teams. Special considerations may be possible for larger events.
  17. If applicable, all parking fees must be covered for the event.
  18. Events requested over Finals (unless Athletic Department) will not be granted. Also events requested during major holidays (i.e. Christmas, New Year's Eve, 4th of July, Labor Day...) may not be granted, depending on availability.

APPEARANCE TYPES

Personal and Corporate Game Day Tailgates-($100 personal- $250 corporate) (up to 20 minutes for appearance)
We can only accommodate requests on main campus and cannot attend events on West Campus or around the Schottenstein Center. To accommodate requests, you will receive a representative from the Spirit Program, which may be Brutus, Cheer or Dance team members.
*Cannot accommodate all requests

OSU College and Department Appearances $75 (up to 30 minutes for appearance)
The appearance will include a visit by 2-6 Cheerleaders and/ or Brutus with chants, cheers, and photo opportunities. A parking pass will need to be provided for group attending.

Non-profit Organization Appearance $100 for non-game day. (up to 30 minutes for appearance)
The appearance will include a visit by 2-6 Cheerleaders and /or Brutus with chants, cheers, and photo opportunities. Please provide proof that organization is non-profit. We can only accommodate requests within 30 miles of our main campus in Columbus, Ohio.

Corporate Appearances $500 for non-game day. (up to 1 hour for appearance)
The appearance will include a visit by 2-6 Cheerleaders and/ or Brutus with chants, cheers, and photo opportunities. We can only accommodate requests within 30 miles of our main campus in Columbus, Ohio.

Medical Center and Schools (K-12) $50 non-game day. (up to 30 minutes for appearance)
The appearance will include a visit by 2-4 Cheerleaders and/ or Brutus with chants, cheers, and photo opportunities. We can only accommodate requests within 30 miles of our main campus in Columbus, Ohio.

Weddings and Special Events $500 non-game day. (up to 30 minutes for appearance)
The appearance will include a visit by 2-6 Cheerleaders and / or Brutus with chants, cheers, and photo opportunities. We can only accommodate requests within 30 miles of our main campus in Columbus, Ohio.
*Private changing room must be provided.
