Ohio State Cheer and Dance Competes at National Competition
Jan. 17, 2012
The cheer and dance team represented the University with "top notch" performances this past weekend in Orlando Fla. Both teams had qualified for the national competition in Orlando this past November. Only one of two Division IA schools in the country to receive full paid bids for both cheer and dance; sharing this honor with LSU.
The teams placed in both the top 10 and the top 5 in the country. The dance team brought home a fourth-place finish in the POM division, with only a 1-point spread away from the first place team! They also brought home a sixth-place overall in the JAZZ division.
The cheerleaders placed ninth in their division, with only a three-point difference from the third-place team. Along with this honor, several of the cheerleaders were asked to try-out for TEAM USA to compete at the worlds collegiate championship. Brittany Maynard was selected as one of the top 10 ladies in the country to represent the United States at the World Championships in April.
Congratulations to our Spirit Program! An outstanding job at the national championship in addition to all the other events, community service and support they give to our University and Athletic Sports teams! As ambassadors to the University they continue to keep Ohio State on the map competitively too!
