No. 6 Ohio State Travels to No. 9 Nebraska

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The No. 6 Ohio State rifle team will travel to Lincoln, Neb., to take on No. 9 Nebraska this coming Saturday, November 23rd. The match against the Cornhuskers will conclude the fall portion of the season.

The Buckeyes are coming off a record setting 4655 performance and win over Army last weekend. Against the Black Knights the Buckeyes fired a team record 2317 in smallbore led by senior Amanda Luoma who fired a 585. Freshman Deanna Binnie was close behind with a 583 followed by freshman Anthony Cuozzo (576) and sophomore Remington Lyman (573). In air rifle, Lyman fired a 589 to lead the way for Ohio State followed by solid performances by Luoma (585), Binnie (582) and Cuozzo (582).

“It has been a solid week of practice so far,” head coach Ryan Tanoue said today. “We are excited and looking forward to making the trip out to Lincoln this Saturday. We have put our performance against Army behind us and have refocused on the task at hand which will be aiming to maximize our performance this weekend and put an exclamation point on what has been a very solid fall season for our team.”

The Nebraska rifle team led by head coach Stacy Underwood in her second season, are coming off of a five point victory over No. 10 Memphis two weeks ago. The Huskers were led by sophomore Denise Martin who fired a career high 591 in air rifle and freshman Rachael Martin who fired a 581 in smallbore.

“Nebraska is a very experienced squad and they are coming off of an NCAA championship appearance last season,” Tanoue said. “That is something that both teams are pushing to achieve this season. We’re looking forward to a very competitive, high level match this weekend.”
