COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following the conclusion of the 2017 NCAA Rifle season, junior Drew Cheezum and freshman Rhiann Travis were named All-Americans at the NCAA Championships Awards Banquet on March 11.

Cheezum, a junior from Centreville, Maryland was named an All-American by both the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) as well as the National Rifle Association (NRA). He garnered NRA Second Team honors in both smallbore and air rifle and Third Team honors from the CRCA. For Cheezum, it was his first distinction as a CRCA All American and his second and third as an NRA All American (Smallbore 2nd team in 2016).  Springtown, Texas native Rhiann Travis was named an All-American for the first time and joined Cheezum as a Second Team NRA All-American.

The NRA selects All-America teams based on each individual event (air rifle & smallbore) and names 10 student athletes as first team All-Americans and 10 as second team. The CRCA’s All American criteria is based on each shooters’ aggregate average (smallbore + air rifle), and they name five athletes to each of four teams (First Team, Second Team, Third Team, & Honorable Mention).

Eleven team members were also recognized by the CRCA as Academic All-Americans. This award is given to student athletes who have maintained a GPA of 3.2 or higher. Ohio State’s list of CRCA Academic All Americans:
