The OSU Scholar-Athlete is studying pharmaceutical science and would like to become a pharmacist to join her mother who is also in the industry.

How did you decide to come to OSU?
When I visited in high school and met with my coach Ryan Tanoue, I immediately knew I needed to attend OSU. I wanted to be a part of a team that had huge goals and a vision to achieve inspiring successes. I am glad I did because that’s exactly what we have done and being a part of it has been incredible.

How long have you been shooting?
I started shooting my freshman year in high school so I have been shooting for 8 years now.

Do you have any pre-match superstitions or rituals?
I don’t have any superstitions, but I do make sure to listen to Frank Sinatra before a match.

What is your favorite part about rifle?
I love the people that I have met through the sport because they are some of my closest friends that push me to be better in every aspect. I also love the mental game of shooting.

What is the hardest thing about rifle?
The hardest thing for me is putting too much pressure on myself to perform better than I need to perform.

How do you balance athletics and academics?
It has not been easy studying pharmaceutical science and also being a student athlete, but I have learned a great deal about time-management that has ultimately made me a stronger person. I balance athletics and academics best by organizing my calendar with assignments and events as well as prioritizing everything. I’ve struggled, but I would not have it any other way.

Why did you choose to major in pre-pharmacy?
I chose to major in pharmaceutical science because my mom is in the Pharmacy Benefit Manager industry and I’ve been fortunate enough to be surrounded by healthcare professionals my entire life. I realized the role of a pharmacist is so vital due to their vast knowledge of medicine. It’s fascinating! As a pharmacist, I’ll eventually be able to help people become their healthiest self and this is my ultimate goal.

What is your favorite study spot on campus?
The law library is by far my favorite spot. It is always super quiet and there are tons of aisles of books that are fun to walk through during breaks.

What is your favorite class you have taken here so far?
My favorite class has been pharmaconutrition because it incorporated nutrition with pharmaceutics and how they work together to help people become healthy.

What is a fun fact about you that not many people know about?
I love to fish! The most fun fishing experience I’ve had was reeling up a 113 pound Mahi-mahi in the Bahamas last year.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
= Maryland blue crab with old bay. It never disappoints.

Who do you most admire and why?
I admire Dorrance and Tamara Smith. They are family friends that have taught me so much about maturity, trust, and striving for goals.

Describe OSU in one word.
Exuberant

What was your favorite experience at OSU?
My favorite experience at OSU was this year’s Scarlet and Gray game. All of the athletes were about to go on the field, but it started pouring so we were told to go into the football tunnel to wait. It ended up being super fun because we were soaked and got to high five and cheer on the football players when they ran back to the locker room during half time. It’s an experience I’ll never forget!
