Buckeyes Defeat Akron and Rose Hulman
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State rifle team (12-5) defeated Akron and the Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in competition at the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range in Converse Hall on the Ohio State campus. The Buckeyes score an aggregate 4,626 in the meet with Akron scoring 4,547 and Rose Hulman, 4,408. OSU finished first in both events scoring 2,298 in smallbore and 2,328 in air rifle.
OSU's Amanda Furrer won both events for the Buckeyes shooting 583 in smallbore and 588 in air rifle. Amanda Luoma, with a 579 in smallbore and a 586 in air rifle took second in both events. Ohio State finished with the top six scores in smallbore and four of the top five in air rifle.
The Buckeyes will host a NCAA qualifying event next weekend.
