The Ohio State Rifle Team got their 2015-16 season underway in Reno, Nev., over the weekend with a 4658 to 4638 win over Nevada. The 4658 score was the highest opening match score in program history and ranks as the teams' 4th best score all-time.

The Ohio State Rifle Team is ranked seventh in the preseason coaches poll and will take that ranking to Nevada for their season and conference opener this weekend.

Ohio State rifle head coach Ryan Tanoue will be inducted into the Nevada Athletic Hall of Fame later this fall as was announced by the university this week. Tanoue was a seven-time All-American and an NCAA Individual Champion for the Wolf Pack from 2002-05.

Ohio State had a league-high 166 placed on the Academic All-Big Ten team for spring and at-large sports, the Big Ten Conference announced Thursday. In all, 1,447 spring and at-large sports student-athletes from around the conference were recognized.

Ohio State's Drew Cheezum and Remington Lyman each turned in solid performances over the weekend at the NCAA Rifle Championships in Fairbanks, Alaska. Cheezum finished 20th overall in the air rifle competition and took 19th in the smallbore while Lyman was just ahead of him in 18th place in smallbore.

Ohio State's Drew Cheezum and Remington Lyman have each been selected to compete in the 2015 NCAA Rifle Championship which will be hosted by the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the championships will be held March 13-14.
