The Ohio State pistol team opened its 2012-13 season with seven wins at the 10th Annual Ohio Cup Open International Pistol Match, held at the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range from Sept. 28-29.
The three-gun championship was won by Ohio State junior Joe Totts, who finished the event with an overall score of 1609. Totts was followed by community shooter R. Dan Pauley (1595) and Ohio State teammate Greyson McCaig (1579).
Junior Kimberly Hullings won the women's two-gun championship, after finishing first in both sport pistol (557) and women's air pistol (362). Junior Mariah Skiles finished in third place overall, with a 524 score in sport pistol and a 341 score in the women's air pistol event.
In individual event competition, Ohio State senior Gary Reburn took first in free pistol, while Totts took first in both standard pistol (552) and air pistol (553) after edging out junior teammate A.J. Tourigny in a tie-breaker.
Official team scores were not kept, but the Buckeyes unofficially ended the day with an aggregate score of 6336, only 100 points away from the all-time record. The women's team finished the competition with a 2613, only 150 points away from their all-time high.
Ohio State continues its 2012-13 season with a match against Army in West Point, N.Y., Oct. 20.
