Buckeyes Win Open Free Pistol Event at the NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Championships
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State pistol team finished first in open free pistol event with a score of 2,022 at the NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Championships at Ft. Benning, Ga. The Buckeyes finished 10 points ahead of the United States Military Academy (2,012) with The Citadel taking third with 1,996. Shooting for Ohio State was Bryan Basenback (490), Aaron Tourigny (503) Joe Totts (505) and Blake Reburn (524). Reburn advanced to the finals finishing fifth with a 609.2. Nick Mowrer of Pikes Peak Community College won the event with a 642.0. In the women's air pistol event, Ohio State tied for third with MIT but lost the tie breaker by one point. The United State Naval Academy won the event with a 1,086. The United States Military Academy was second with 1,073 and Ohio State and MIT tied for third with 1,046. Buckeye shooters included Kim Hullings (363), Mariah Skiles (346), Christina Heaton (341) and Amanda Watters (336). Hullings finished seventh in the event. Competition continues Friday with open standard pistol and women's sport pistol. Saturday completes the championship with open air pistol.
