COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State pistol team has qualified in all five events of the 2011 NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Championships, March 17-19 at Ft. Benning, Ga. In the open events, OSU qualified second in free pistol (2,044), third in standard pistol (2,109) and third in air pistol (2,197). The United States Military Academy qualified first in all three events with scores of 2,099 in free, 2,178 in standard and 2,211 in air.
In the women's events, the Buckeyes qualified first in women's sport pistol (1,625) and were third in women's air pistol (1,063). The United States Naval Academy was the top qualifier in women's air pistol with a 1,108 score.
Competition begins March 17 with the open free pistol and the women's air pistol. Open standard pistol and women's sport pistol will compete on March 18 and open air pistol will shoot on March 19.
Last year, Ohio State finished fifth in the open championship and the women finished third.
