COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State University pistol team outpointed Texas A&M, Saturday, defeating the Aggies by a score of 6,316-5,000 at the Military Sciences Building in College Station, Texas.
The Buckeyes swept each event in open competition, and were led by junior Joe Totts who took first place in both standard (553) and 60-shot air pistol (555), and junior A.J. Tourigny who finished first in free pistol (516).
With his fourth-consecutive win in standard pistol, Totts has now placed first in standard pistol in each match this season.
Behind Totts, senior Gary Reburn and sophomore Greyson McCaig rounded out the top three scorers in standard pistol, with scores of 523 and 522, respectively. Tourigny tallied an overall score of 519 to place fourth.
In free pistol competition, Reburn and classmate Jason Reineck placed second and third with scores of 510 and 499, respectively, to solidify the top three scorers. Totts finished fourth in the event having tallied a score of 491.
The Buckeyes also earned the top four finishes in air pistol, as Tourigny, Reburn and Reineck rounded out the top four scorers behind Totts with scores of 548, 545 and 535.
In women's competition, junior Kimberly Hullings placed first for the Buckeyes in both sport (549) and 40-shot air pistol (349), while teammate Mariah Skiles placed second in both events with scores of 519 and 338, respectively.
The Buckeyes return to action Nov. 17 as hosts of the Buckeye Corral at the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range. The match is set to begin at 8 a.m.
