COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State University pistol team outpointed Purdue, Sunday, defeating the Boilermakers by a final score of 4,616-3,620 at the Armory in West Lafayette, Ind.
The Buckeyes swept each event, outshooing the Boilermakers in free pistol (1,007-669), standard pistol (2,218-1,677) and air pistol (1,481-1,274).
Ohio State senior Gary Reburn placed in each event for the Buckeyes, taking first in air pistol (375), tying for second in free pistol (255) with teammate Jason Reineck, and finishing third in standard pistol (518), while junior Joe Totts won the standard pistol event for the third consecutive time this season, tallying an overall score of 556.
Junior Aaron Tourigny placed first in free pistol, scoring 256 points to narrowly edge out Reburn and Reineck for the top spot.
Sophomore Greyson McCaig earned a second-place finish for the Buckeyes in standard pistol with 538 points, while Totts earned the second spot in air pistol with 371 total points.
In women's individual competition, junior Kimberly Hullings placed first in sport pistol (365) while junior Mariah Skiles placed first in air pistol (346). Purdue did not field a women's team for the match.
The Buckeyes return to the range Nov. 3, taking on Texas A&M at the Military Sciences Building in College Station, Texas. The match is set to begin at 8 a.m.
