Ohio State Sweeps Competition at Buckeye Corral

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State pistol team hosted the University of Akron, Cedarville University and Urbana University at the second annual Shoot-Out at the Buckeye Corral, Saturday, at the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range.
The Buckeyes tallied an aggregate score of 4,659 to defeat the Zips (3,812), the Yellow Jackets (2,617) and the Blue Knights (915).
In addition, the Scarlet and Gray swept the competition in all three open events. In free pistol (30-shot), freshman Quentin Cauffman placed first with a score of 267, senior Jason Reineck took second with a score of 265 and senior A.J. Tourigny finished third with a score of 258.
In air pistol (40-shot), Tourigny outpointed the rest of the competition to earn first place (370), while senior Nicolas Fujimura notched a second-place finish (366) and Totts finished third (363).
As a team, the Buckeyes tallied an aggregate score of 1,046 in free pistol, 2,152 in standard pistol and 1,461 in air pistol. Individually, Totts placed first in the three-gun aggregate (1,172), Cauffman placed second (1,153) and Tourigny finished in third (1,142).
The Buckeyes also swept women's competition, as Hullings won women's sport pistol with a score of 553, senior Mariah Skiles took second with a score of 539 and freshman Elizabeth Szalajko placed third with a score of 537.
In women's air pistol, Szalajko took first place (362), freshman Elizabeth Buerling finished in second place (359) and Skiles placed third (358).
In two-gun aggregate competition, Szalajko came out on top with a score of 899, followed by Hullings (899) and Skiles (897) in second and third place, respectively.
The Buckeyes return to action Oct. 12-13, hosting defending national champion Army and Akron at the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range.
