COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State pistol team defeated Army and Akron, Saturday, at the Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range. The Buckeyes swept all three open events to tally an aggregate score of 6,411, defeating defending national champion Army (6,237) and Akron (4,795).
Three Ohio State student-athletes won individual events, as senior Joe Totts placed first in standard pistol with a score of 559, senior Jason Reineck placed first in free pistol with a score of 521 and senior Kim Hullings earned a first-place finish in women's sport pistol with a score of 558.
Additionally, Reineck and senior A.J. Tourigny tied for first place in air pistol with Garrett Kennedy (Army) as all three posted a score of 555 in the event.
Ohio State defeated Akron in women's competition, outshooting the Zips by a score of 2,704-2,346.
Behind Hullings, senior Mariah Skiles placed third in women's sport pistol with a score of 540, while freshman Elizabeth Szalajko (362) and Hullings (362) finished second and third in women's air pistol, respectively.
The Buckeyes return to action at VMI Oct. 25-26.
