COLUMBUS, Ohio – In a preview of the NCAA Rifle Sectionals, the Ohio State rifle team defeated Akron’s gold team 4,618-4,552. Rose-Hulman finished third with 4,484.
Ohio State’s Lauren Alman posted an 1,159 aggregate to win the match. She recorded a 577 in smallbore and a 582 in air rifle.
The Buckeyes' pistol team also traveled to Akron for a dual match with the Zips, topping Akron 6,268-4,811. The Buckeyes won every event as AJ Tourigny won free pistol (508), Joe Totts took standard pistol (545) and Bryan Basenback won air pistol (567).
The women’s pistol team came out on top as well, outpointing the Zips 2,641-1,420. In women’s air pistol, OSU’s Christina Heaton won with a 359 and Buckeye Kim Hullings took sport pistol with a 545.
