COLUMBUS, Ohio -
The Ohio State fencing team travels to Philadelphia, Pa. for their first visiting contest, the Elite Invitational Duals, on Saturday. Ohio State will face seven varsity fencing squads, all of which finished in the top 25 at last year’s NCAA Championships. Competition begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Coach Dave Micahnik Center.
The Ohio State women’s team will take on Northwestern, Columbia, Penn, Cornell and Princeton. The men’s unit with face off with Princeton, Columbia, Penn, North Carolina and Yale.
LAST YEAR’S ELITE INVITATIONAL
Both the men’s and women’s squads achieved winning records at last year’s competition, combining for an overall record of 7-4. The men’s sabre unit featured a 13-2 performance from Frederik Koch and Fares Arfa totaling a record of 11-4. Women’s foilist Eleanor Harvey was undefeated, tallying 18 victories and teammate Alanna Goldie recorded an 11-5 bout-record.
The Buckeye will compete at the November North American Cup in Milwaukee, Wis. from Nov. 11-14.
