Elite Invitational Duals Schedule
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes return to home strips this weekend, hosting the Elite Invitational Duals. Competition starts at 9 a.m. Saturday and continues through Sunday afternoon at French Field House.
MEET THE COMPETITION
The nine varsity teams that Ohio State will face are Penn, UNC, Cornell, AFA, NWU, CSU, NJIT, Princeton, and Notre Dame. Notre Dame is the reigning NCAA Champions and Princeton finished 16 points behind the Buckeyes. Five of the remaining teams finished last season in the top-25.
LAST YEAR AT THE DUALS
The Bucks finished 7-3 at the competition last season with an overall team bout-record of 146-97.
Each weapon of the men’s unit earned one-third of the unit’s total points. Men’s epee was the sole undefeated bout against UNC. Starting the day with a 17-10 victory over Princeton, the men went on to defeat 4 of 5 opponents.
Leading the way for the women’s team was the foil unit finishing with a 26-10 record. Downing Northwestern, Penn, and Cornell each by at least 5 touches, the women finished the day with a record of 3-2.
Ohio State comes into this weekend riding a strong performance at OSU Duals. Sweeping the event once again, the Buckeyes hope to keep building off of that success.
BUCKS HIT THE ROAD
The Buckeyes head to Portland, Ore. for the December Division I North American Cup December 8-11. This will be the last competition for the Buckeyes for 2017.
