COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State fencing team hosts its annual OSU Duals Saturday at French Field House with the first bouts scheduled for 8 a.m. as the Buckeyes face Cleveland State. Admission to the event is free with a full schedule below.

Traditionally, Ohio State coaches use the event to showcase the team's younger talent, as many of the 17 Buckeye newcomers will make their debut at the duals.

A YEAR AGO
Last year, the Buckeyes notched a 26-0 record against opponents at the OSU Duals to push their undefeated streak at the event to eight-consecutive years. Allison Henvick and Isabella Bonello led the women's foil team to an 86-4 overall score, while each putting together individual 30-0 records. Trevor Pedersenachieved the same mark in men's epee.

OHIO STATE TO HOST 2012 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2012 NCAA Men's and Women's Fencing Championships will be hosted by Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The championships, taking place March 22-25, will be held at French Field House, with championship bouts decided inside St. John Arena.

This will be the third time Ohio State has hosted the championship (2008 and 2011).

BUCKEYES CLAIM FIFTH AT 2011 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ohio State extended its streak of Top 5 finishes at the NCAA championships to 10 seasons with a fifth-place finish at the 2011 NCAA Championships in March. The Scarlet and Gray played host to the event for the second time in program history.

Katarzyna Dabrowa and Marco Canevari nabbed First Team All-America honors, while teammates Margarita Tschomakova and Igor Tolkachev were named to the Second Team. Zain Shaito and Rhys Douglaspulled together Top 10 finishes in their weapon categories as well.


 

 

UP NEXT
Following the conclusion of the OSU Duals, the Buckeye swashbucklers will travel to Daytona, Fla., for the Junior North American Cup, followed by the Garret Open hosted by Penn State in University Park, Pa.
