COLUMBUS, Ohio – Opening weekend ends on a high note as the Ohio State Fencing Team finishes with an 8-0 sweep at OSU Duals. The men finished 193-23 while the women finished 207-9. This win cements Ohio State’s 14th consecutive win at this event.

EPEE
The women’s team shut out four teams while the men’s kept two without a score.  For men’s epee, Sean Lauron (10-0), Christopher Kwok (7-1), and Ethan Edwards (6-1) made their debut on home strips and helped the team to a 59-13 record. Alexandria Alpy, Caira Moreira-Brown, and Eva Petronchak carried the women’s epee squad, giving up only 4 bouts.

FOIL
The men’s squad finished 69-2 and the women’s squad, manned by Gabriela Cecchini, Erin Melber, and Alexa Laskaris, followed close behind with a 68-4 record. Freshmen foilists had a strong performance with William Gaziano going undefeated and Justin Zhou suffering just one loss.


 

 

SABRE
The women’s sabre squad owned the strips going undefeated through the whole competition. The men finished with a 65-7 record and Freshman Benjamin Marcus finished with just one loss for the day.
