COLUMBUS, Ohio-
The Ohio State fencing team finished fifth overall at the 2015 NCAA Fencing Championships, extending the consecutive Top 5 finish streak to 14 years. Six Buckeyes registered Top 8 finishes to reach the podium after the distribution of women's individual awards.

Alanna Goldie landed in No. 2 spot with 19 victories at the end of round-robin competition to claim her spot in the semifinals in women's foil. Goldie battled with Margaret Lu from Columbia, but fell in a narrow 15-14 loss. Eleanor Harvey took ninth place with 12 victories to complete her first national championship appearance.

For women's epee, Eugenia Falqui notched an eighth place finish with 13 victories and a +12 indicator to take her spot on the podium for the Scarlet and Gray.

Kimberly Young place 16th in her national championship debut for women's sabre, adding nine victories to Ohio State's total score. Among Young's victories was Penn State's Karen Chang, who finished in second place.


 

 

Of the Buckeye competitors, eight Buckeyes registered All-American accolades. Goldie and Lewis Weiss, men's epee, earned First Team All-American with their respective third place finishes. Freshman Marc-Antoine Blais Belanger, men's epee, registered a Second Team All-American honor having placed sixth. Harvey, Falqui, Stanislov Sudilovsky and Maximilian Chastanet, who finished seventh and eighth respectively in men's foil, made Third Team All-American. Fares Arfa received an Honorable Mention, due to his tenth-place finish in men's sabre.

Ohio State finished the day in fifth place with 137 victories, behind Columbia (165), Penn State (156), Notre Dame (156) and Princeton (148). In total, the Scarlet and Gray registered 890 touches scored with a +165 indicator. This concludes the varsity season.
