Fencing: Men's Championships Begin Today in French Field House

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The men take to the strip today in French Field House on the campus of The Ohio State University as the 2008 NCAA National Fencing Championships enters day three of the four-day competition. The action gets underway with Rounds 1-4 at 10 a.m. and will conclude around 3 p.m.

Ohio State enters the men's portion of the championships in first place after the Buckeye women totaled 101 points in their two-day competition. Notre Dame is close behind eith 98 points and Columbia/Barnard sits in third place with 82 points.

The Penn State men enter the championships ranked No. 1 in the nation but trail Ohio State by 33 points as the Nittany Lion women totaled 68 points the last two days.

Sunday, the men will fence Rounds 5-7, followed immediately by the semifinal bouts. The gold medal bouts will be fenced in St. John Arena at 2 p.m.
