Ohio State Fencing Hosts NCAA Midwest Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Buckeyes will host the NCAA Midwest Regional qualifier at French Field House on Saturday, March 12. The event will begin at 9 a.m. with women’s epee, women’s foil, and women’s sabre. Men’s epee, men’s foil and men’s sabre will commence at 1 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

Ohio State’s looks to qualify the maximum 12 fencers for NCAA Championships in Waltham, Mass. on March 24-27. Teams competing along with Ohio State include Notre Dame, Cleveland State, Wayne State, Northwestern, and Lawrence.

A YEAR AGO
The Buckeyes qualified ten fencers for NCAA Championships last year, nine of which returned this season. 19 fencers finished in the top-10 of their weapon categories at last year’s Midwest Regional, including first place finishes from women’s epeeist Eugenia Falqui, men’s foilist Maximilian Chastanet, and men’s epeeist Lewis Weiss.

MFC CHAMPIONS
Ohio State claimed first place at Midwest Fencing Conference Championships, finishing first overall for teams. The men’s epee, men’s foil, men’s sabre, and women’s foil won first place in their weapon categories. The Buckeyes earned 21 trophies for team and individual competition and was the only team to finish in the top three in every weapon.
