COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State fencing team will host Midwest Fencing Conference Championships for the first time this weekend, Feb. 27-28. Competition on Saturday will be individual while Sunday will feature team competition. Competition begins at 8 a.m. on both days in French Field House. Admission to the event is free.
The Buckeyes will be host to Northwestern, University of Detroit-Mercy, Cleveland State University, and Wayne State University, along with 17 other teams. A full list of teams competing can be found below.
A YEAR AGO
Last year, the Buckeyes came away in first place at Midwest Fencing Conference Championship. The event was a team-based only competition, and the Buckeye squad garnered 1,580 points to claim the top spot. The men’s epee, men’s foil, women’s foil and women’s epee squads all earned gold medals, while women’s epee claimed a silver medal and men’s sabre took home a bronze medal. The Buckeyes were the only team at the competition to earn hardware in every event.
