Buckeyes Sweep OSU Duals Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State fencing team went unbeaten Saturday at the Ohio State Duals in French Field House, compiling an overall 18-0 record. Facing all club opponents, the Buckeye men and women, ranked No. 2 and No. 6, respectively, both posted 9-0 marks while dominating their home facility.
The Ohio State men are now 27-1, while the Buckeye women are 24-4.
Junior Siobhan Byrne (Eislingen, Germany) and senior Syvenna Siebert (Upper Arlington, Ohio) scored 22-0 records in the sabre, leading the Buckeye women to victory. On the men's side, freshmen Sergey Smirnov (Shymkent, Kazachstan) and Joe Streb (Columbus, Ohio) posted perfect records en route to a men's overall victory.
Other notable performances for the Scarlet and Gray were turned in by junior Alexandra Obrazcova (Daugavpils, Latvia) who went 27-0 and freshman Julia Tikhonova (Jerusalem, Israel) who went 24-0.
The Buckeyes will see action next at the Junior Olympics in Denver, Colo., Feb. 17-18. The results from Saturday's action are listed below.
