Buckeyes Gear Up For Northwestern Duals

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the final event before Midwest Fencing Conference Championships, the Ohio State fencing team heads to South Bend, Ind. for Northwestern Duals hosted at the Castellan Family Fencing Center. The Buckeyes will face off with 15 men’s and women’s squads, slated for 10 duals with ranked opponents in eight rounds of competition.

The Buckeyes had a successful outing at last year’s Northwestern Duals, coming away with a combined record of 14-5. The men’s squad, ranked at No. 7, earned six victories including three over top 10 ranked teams. The No. 8 ranked women’s team claimed eight wins, with four victories over top 10 ranked opponents including a 16-11 upset over No. 3 Penn State.

The women’s foil unit led the way for the team, going undefeated in all ten duals and holding No. 3 Penn State, No. 8 Princeton and Duke without a single touch against the Buckeyes. Three individual foil performances garnered over 22 points including seniors Eleanor Harvey (25-1) and Alanna Goldie (22-3).
