COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State fencing squad travels to Evanston, Ill., Saturday to compete in the Northwestern Duals at the Sports and Aquatic Center on the campus of Northwestern University. Bouts begin at 8 a.m. and continue throughout the day.

THE NORTHWESTERN DUALS
The sixth-ranked Buckeye women open the event against No. 2 Princeton, before facing North Carolina, UC San Diego, No. 8 Temple, No. 10 Duke and Wayne State.
 
Ohio State's fifth-ranked men's team will face Wayne State, No. 2 Princeton, No. 8 Duke, Stanford and UC San Diego.
 
UP NEXT FOR THE BUCKEYES

The Northwestern Duals mark the end of the regular season for Ohio State. The Buckeyes' next competition is at Midwest Fencing Conference championships March 3-4 in South Bend, Ind. 

TRIO OF

BUCKEYES HONORED
Senior sabreist Max Stearns earned National Fencer of the Week honors from CollegeFencing360.com Jan. 25 after helping the Buckeye men to a 10-1 cumulative record at the St. John's and New York University Invitationals.

Sophomore epeeist Katarzyna Dabrowa picked up a Primetime Performer accolade, while freshman foilist Mona Shaito was named College Fencing Rookie of the Week after recording a 25-5 record at the two events.
 
THE ST. JOHN'S INVITATIONAL
The Scarlet and Gray claimed team championships at the St. John's event after the women turned in a flawless, 5-0 performance and the men dropped just one dual to finish 4-1. Both squads opened the event with 15-12 upsets of reigning NCAA champion Notre Dame. The women would go on to claim another three victories against ranked opponents in No. 5 St. John's, No. 7 Harvard and No. 1 Penn State.


The men experienced their only hiccup of the day following the Notre Dame dual, dropping a 16-11 decision to No. 6 St. John's. The Buckeyes bounced back to down Columbia, No. 3 Harvard and No. 1 Penn State by a combined 50-31 score.

THE NYU INVITATIONAL
The team followed its performance at the St. John's Invitational with a combined 11-1 showing at the NYU Invitational Sunday. The men picked up victories against No. 4 Notre Dame, No. 6 St. John's and No. 10 Yale on the way to a 6-0 record. Notre Dame's third-ranked women edged out the Buckeyes in a 14-13 decision, but Ohio State picked up wins against No. 5 St. John's and No. 4 Northwestern.


2012 POLLS
Both Ohio State squads were ranked in the Top 10 of CollegeFencing360.com's Jan. 19 coaches' poll. The Buckeye men found themselves in fifth, while the women came in sixth in the rankings.
